Do you need to insulate your home? If you’ve been looking up different options, you’ve probably seen a lot of information about spray foam. One of the most widely installed insulation materials, spray foam can be installed in many areas of a home, including:
- Crawl space or basement
But how much does spray foam insulation cost? As with any home project, cost is an important factor for many homeowners when it comes to insulation installation.
Cost of Spray Foam Insulation for Your Home
The overall cost of your insulation project will depend on a few factors, such as the size of your home, the area you’re insulating, etc.—but we can give you a general idea. According to HomeAdvisor, spray foam (polyurethane) is typically calculated by the board foot. To calculate the board footage of the space you need to insulate, multiply the area you want to insulate by the depth in inches.
In general, open-cell spray foam is 35 to 55 cents per board foot, and closed-cell spray foam is $1.00 – $2.00 per board foot.
To get an estimate, follow this example:
- 3,000 board feet of space at 0.50 = $1,500
Remember, this is just a general example and may not necessarily be accurate for your specific project. If you’d like to get an estimate for your Washington, DC area home, an Accurate Insulation professional can come out and assess your space.
